Interaction effect between mineral zinc-nitrogen fertilization mixture and organic fertilization as compost on yield, nutrients uptake of rice and some soil properties CIGR Journal

To study the effect of organic fertilization as compost (20 m3 fed-1), mineral Zinc-Nitrogen fertilization mixture (three Zinc levels (0, 8 and 16 kg Zn fed-1) and three nitrogen rates (0, 30 and 60 kg N fed-1 were mixed alternately) on growth, grain and straw yields, N, P and K uptake for rice crop (Oryza sativa), variety Giza 178, two field trials at El-Serw Agricultural Research Station, Damietta governorate were conducted through summer seasons of 2015 and 2016. Plant height, dry matter, grain and straw yields also, N, P and K-uptake in grain and straw yields increased with increasing levels of zinc and nitrogen fertilization. Manejo de hábitat y microorganismos para degradar efluentes industriales: un estudio de caso Ecología austral

Se evaluó la eficiencia de prácticas de manejo de hábitat y microorganismos para degradar efluentes en una industria metalúrgica de Córdoba, Argentina. Para optimizar la actividad de organismos del agua, el suelo y la rizosfera de las plantas, se manejaron tres hábitats: acuático, de humedales y agrícola. Las prácticas fueron: introducción de vegetación palustre y terrestre, aireación del agua, laboreos, remoción de sedimentos e inoculación con bacterias seleccionadas. Se evaluaron los siguientes parámetros: pH y contenido de bacterias en el agua, y contenido de aceites, Cr y Zn en los sedimentos, suelo y napa freática. Metallothionein: An Overview on its Metal Homeostatic Regulation in Mammals International Journal of Morphology

Metallothionein (MT) is a ubiquitous protein with a low molecular weight of 6-7 kDa weight and it was first identified in the kidney cortex of equines as a cadmium (Cd)-binding protein responsible for the natural accumulation of Cd in the tissue. The mammalian MT contains 61 to 68 amino acid residues, in which 18 to 23 cysteine residues are present. The expression of MT starts by binding of metal transcription factor-1 (MTF-1) to the regulative region of MT gene called metal responsive elements (MREs). The induction of MT through the MREs region can be initiated by several metal ions such as zinc (Zn), copper (Cu) and Cd. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of aluminum (Al) on the zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn), iron (Fe) and copper (Cu) concentrations in four potato clones (Macaca and Dakota Rose: both Al-sensitive clones; and SMIC148-A and Solanum microdontum: both Al-tolerant-clones), grown in a nutrient solution (pH 4.00) with 0, 50, 100, 150 and 200mg Al L-1. Neo-Timm staining in the thalamus of chronically epileptic rats BJMBR

The thalamus is an important modulator of seizures and is severely affected in cholinergic models of epilepsy. In the present study, chronically epileptic rats had their brains processed for neo-Timm and acetylcholinesterase two months after the induction of status epilepticus with pilocarpine. Both controls and pilocarpine-treated animals presented neo-Timm staining in the anterodorsal nucleus, laterodorsal nucleus, reticular nucleus, most intralaminar nuclei, nucleus reuniens, and rhomboid nucleus of the thalamus, as well as in the zona incerta. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar os efeitos de doses de P e Zn em cultivares de feijão-caupi em condições de campo na Amazônia. As cultivares foram BRS Imponente e BRS Tumucumaque. Se estudiaron 19 niños entre 1 y 36 meses de vida, internados en la Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos Pediátricos (UCIP) del Hospital "Dr. Pedro de Elizalde". Las muestras de sangre fueron extraídas en ayunas, al ingreso en UCIP. Se determinó la concentración de proteína C reactiva (PCR) -por inmunodifusión radial cuantitativa-, cobre (Cu) y zinc (Zn) -por absorción atómica-, calculándose la relación Cu/Zn. Como valores de referencia (VR) se utilizaron los reportados por la bibliografía para el mismo grupo etario. Relations among Valencia orange yields with soil and leaf nutrients in Northwestern Paraná, Brazil BABT

The Valencia orange orchards established on soils of low fertility in the Northwest region of Paraná State, Brazil, have showed symptoms of Mg deficiency and reduced fruit yields. The objective of this study was to verify the relationship between yield with soil and leaf nutrients during 1996/97 growing season. Two sites of low and high productivity were selected in seven orchards. Leaf and soil samples (fertilized rows and interrows) were collected in 1996. The medial cerebral cortex of lizards, an area homologous to the hippocampal fascia dentata, shows delayed postnatal neurogenesis, i.e., cells in the medial cortex ependyma proliferate and give rise to immature neurons, which migrate to the cell layer. There, recruited neurons differentiate and give rise to zinc containing axons directed to the rest of cortical areas, thus resulting in a continuous growth of the medial cortex and its zinc-enriched axonal projection. ABSTRACT A comparative slaughter trial was conducted to estimate the body composition and net requirements of Cu, Zn, Mn, Fe, and Co for growth of castrated Moxotó goat kids, with15.69±0.78 kg initial body weight (BW), grazing in the semiarid region of Brazil. The baseline group consisted of four randomly selected kids (15.37±0.30 kg BW). Thirty-two kids were randomly allocated into eight groups (considered as block), distributed among four levels of concentrate supplementation (0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5% BW). Se describe la validación de un método para la determinación de manganeso, molibdeno y zinc, a niveles traza, en soluciones acuosas, mediante espectroscopia de emisión-plasma inductivo de argón. Se optimizó y validó la cuantificación de manganeso, molibdeno y zinc en solución acuosa ácida usando un espectrómetro de emisión atómica de plasma inductivo.
